The Project
We were asked by the curators of our library's rare vintage book and manuscript collection, The Cary Collection, to redesign their website. Their main goal was to make it easier for visitors to find out about the collection, the vents that were being hosted, and to get in contact with the curators.
We were asked to do a single conceptual workflow and I decided to design the flow from entering the site, selecting a collection (The Graphic Design Archive, one of their larger and more specialized), and then selecting an artist within that collection to find out more about their work.
Style Tile
I wanted to go with a cool and neutral theme to match the subdued and professional feeling of the Collection while also allowing the work itself to stand out and be the primary focus.

Sketches and Wireframes
These are a few examples of some sketches and some high fidelity wireframes I put together after playing with some things. One of the things I was really envisioning was the two columns of content scrolling in opposite directions as you scrolled down- I thought it would be a delicate but unusual effect that would really cause the visitor to slow down and take in what they were seeing
